Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian music producer and singer. She began her career in the early 1990s. was described as moving into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop,[4] and has incorporated influences from electronic music, hip hop and rock. The lyrics of her songs often address feminist and science fiction themes. Five studio albums have been published by her. Grimes was born in Vancouver before moving to Montreal in 2000. Grimes started releasing her music as a solo act from the mid 2000s. two albums came out by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa in 2010. She subsequently joined 4AD and gained acclaim when she released her third album, Visions In 2012. Visions features the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" which earned her the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. The album followed this and the fourth album of her studio, Art Angels, was released in the year 2015 and garnered the acclaim of critics, with several publications having declared it to be the top album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes is the judge for Alter Ego, a music contest. She participated in the role-playing game of Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
